Seven of the best school VIDI projects from across Croatia showcased their innovative work at PMF Zagreb, where the top three were selected.
Zagreb, February 20, 2025 – The third VIDI X Challenge took place as part of the ISCE Science Factory project, conducted in Croatia by PMF, FER, and the Croatian Mathematical Society. PMF Dean Mirko Planinić inspired participants with a story about the Wright brothers, emphasizing the power of ideas and courage in innovation.
Students from schools using VIDI X in computer science classes participated. The expert jury evaluated the projects based on originality, technical execution, code quality, and presentation. The winners are:
- Pneumo-bot-arm (STŠ Frana Bošnjakovića, Zagreb) – Demonstration of pneumatic control via VIDI X, winner in technical execution.
- e-Don't Get Angry (SŠ Marka Marulića, Slatina) – A digital version of a popular board game, winner in presentation.
- Hexapod (III Gymnasium, Osijek) – Advanced robot with live-streaming camera and remote control, winner in coding.
- Smart Greenhouse (Electromechanical Craft School, Zagreb) – Automated mini greenhouse powered by VIDI X.
- Tuner (Gimnazija Velika Gorica) – Device for reading and measuring audio signals with Bluetooth control.
- Retro Emulator (1st Technical School Tesla, Zagreb) – Turning VIDI X into a classic gaming console.
- Smart Piano (1st Technical School Tesla, Zagreb) – A program that transforms VIDI X into a musical instrument.
Each member of the winning teams received valuable prizes from sponsor White Shark. In addition to prizes, teams will present their projects to VIDI X users in the United States.
Tomislav Kotnik, founder of the VIDI X project, stated: "This was our biggest challenge yet, with incredibly creative and original projects. We are delighted to have collaborated with PMF and FER, motivating students to excel. We hope this experience inspires them to pursue STEM studies in the future."
