Iva Mažar, a young cadet from AK Moslavina, trains under Ivan Desić's guidance and is already successfully competing against athletes up to 5 years older. This year, she set records in the 800, 1000, and 1500 meters, as well as in the relay. She has become the Croatian cadet and junior champion in several disciplines.
Iva started training athletics after practicing taekwondo, initially under coach Senka, and now she trains with coach Ivan. Her favorite disciplines are the 1500 meters and the 1500 meters steeplechase, while she most enjoys long-distance running. Despite training six times a week, she manages to balance both school and sports, with her biggest support being her family and coaches.
Her role models are Croatian athletes Matea Parlov, Jana Koščak, and Vita Barbić. Her favorite sporting moment was setting a new Croatian record, and her dream is to compete at the Olympic Games.
At the upcoming cadet Pentathlon in Zagreb, Iva will compete in the 1500 meters steeplechase, where she hopes to break another Croatian record.
